Malmö University will host the second POEM conference on 16-17 June 2014. This international conference for researchers working in the area of early childhood mathematics education is a follow-up to the first conference held in Frankfurt am Main in February, 2012. Mathematics education in early childhood programmes is receiving much attention at the moment in regard to the contribution that it might make to children’s mathematics achievement in school. As a response to this attention, POEM conferences were designed to contribute to answering the question: In which way – and how much – should children be "educated" in mathematics before entering primary school?
